P AFS Ireland was delighted to sponsor three of our employees as they took part in Limerick’s Fittest Superstars on Saturday 27th April 2024 in Mungret St. Pauls GAA club. The event is presented by Ireland’s Fittest Family creator and Clare hurling legend Davy Fitzgerald.
Ireland’s Fittest Family is an Irish TV series where families from across Ireland compete in different adventure races and fitness competitions in an effort to win title of “Ireland’s Fittest Family”.
Similar to the TV series, it is a team of four event which was made up of one club member, one person over the age of 40, one male and one female. Stephen Dilworth, Niall Stack, Darren O’Sullivan and a female club member represented PAFS Ireland on the day. The obstacle course which included hanging tough, box steps, an inverted pipe, a 10-foot wall, amongst other challenges and ended with the team running up a 12-foot ramp to finish. All of which tested the team’s endurance, stamina, agility and team spirit in the fast paced and exciting race. The day started at 9.30 am with a new team starting the course every ten minutes. 54 teams took part overall with the PAFS Ireland team finishing in a very impressive 10th place with an incredible time of 8 minutes and 5 seconds.
The course builds trust in your team mates, encourages each other in a way to succeed, improves communication and problem-solving skills and utilises everyone’s strengths and distributes responsibilities.
There was over €42,000 raised for the event and over €1,000 raised by the PAFS Ireland team alone. The prize money on the day for the top three places was €4,000 plus €1,000 going to the local charity Milford Care Centre. It was a very successful and fantastic day which included activities for everyone. Roll on 2025.
